The sample multiple-choice questions used for the one-against-hundred competition are available here. The last four are of course outside of the scope of the exam and were only meant to pick a winner against the end.
The lectures are recorded by ETH multimedia services starting October 4 and are accessible through the video portal (with your nETHZ credentials).
We had lots of registrations and had to scale up room capacity. From week 2 (September 27), lectures will be in HG F 3, which will have enough seats for everybody.
The first lecture will be given twice so that you can choose to attend it on Tuesday or Wednesday:
Tuesday, September 20 (10:00 - 12:00): CAB G 51
Wednesday, September 21 (also 10:00 - 12:00): HG E 3
For those of you who can, we recommend coming on Wednesday. HG E 3 is big and it is guaranteed everybody will get a comfortable seat on that day based on registrations.
To win a place in a data center visit, solve the programming task described in this google form and submit your solution there.
We offer three slots: Wednesday 1pm-3pm, Thursday 3pm-5pm, and Friday 1pm-3pm. Check lecture and exercise times to see which slot is yours.
The lecture has a 1A component, meaning that you will have a lot of practical exposure to technology. The TAs will have plenty of practical exercises for you and will help you getting your computers set up in the exercise sessions. Please do not forget to bring your laptops with you to make the most out of it.
We will try to make the course a bit interactive, using the ETH ticker application during lectures. You can access it as a website under this link: https://eduapp-app1.ethz.ch/ or install it on your smartphone (links for the main three operating systems are on https://www.ethz.ch/en/the-eth
We recommend trying out the ticker app already now so that the answering process goes smoothly in the lectures. One question about your background is already available as a test so that you can familiarize yourself with the app and answer your first question.
